Installation

A combination of characters was intended to make a statement that clearly communicates the socio-critical theme. An erect phallus with a sharp-edged, metallic rasping surface instead of skin shows the pain and violence that result from sexual abuse. The video of a blood orange being rasped reinforces the message and makes the viewer pause for a moment and empathize with the victims.
Johanna Rummel's focus in this installation was the creation of the film, which is deliberately intended to trigger an inner discomfort in the viewer.
