Inclusive Storybook

Editorial

The inclusive storybook "Of the fisherman and his wife" was designed by Johanna Rummel. This fairy tale is about a woman who became blind with greed.
Her goal was for all people, including those with visual impairments, to be able to read and empathize with the story. Blurred photos show colors and light to emphasize the mood and feelings of the scene. The viewer enters a deeper visual level, making clear, distinct graphics unnecessary. The book is also written in Braille and in inclusive type "ITC Johnston" size of 16 pt and suitable for readers with visual acuity up to 0.4. The bold, black line and large endpoint are used to help orient the reader to where the text begins and ends.
